About 2:24 Ministry
Today, 2:24 Ministry serves Metro Atlanta and the surrounding communities, but our story started back in Illinois in 2004. Our founder, Aquina, had a painful cold sore in her mouth. At the time, no surgical treatments were available because she was pregnant, so she simply soldiered through the condition. After her son was born in 2005, she found out the truth: that cold sore was cancer. She was diagnosed in Chicago with an odontogenic carcinoma ghost cell tumor.
A rare form of cancer, the only viable option at the time was to cut it out. It returned several times until Aquina finally found an answer in 2010. By then, research and biopsies had brought doctors to the conclusion that the tumor could be healed. That wasn't the biggest change for Aquina, though. One of her most devastating experiences had already been transformed into something wonderful — a personal relationship with God. His presence gave her the strength and purpose to hold on, and the experience compelled her to reach out to others.
Now a survivor with two beautiful children, Aquina travels to communities and congregations to tell her story and help others find the same faith that carried her through cancer. Founding our ministry, she delivers her testimony to audiences of all kinds through blogs, merchandise, and speaking engagements.
